What is Train to Gain?
Train to Gain is funded by the Learning and Skills Council. It is part of a long-term government initiative to provide a wide range of training aimed at improving the knowledge and skills of England’s workforce.
The project offers free NVQ training at Level 2 for employed adults aged 25 and over who have not yet achieved a qualification at Level 2 – i.e. they do not have 5 GCSE or O Level passes at grades A-C, or an NVQ Level 2, or a comparable diploma or certificate.
Train to Gain also offers free and subsidised NVQ training at Level 3, irrespective of the candidates' previous level of qualification.
During their NVQ, candidates can also receive any help that is needed with Skills for Life – reading, writing, maths or speaking and understanding English if English is not their first language.
