PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector)


Our eight-week course will prepare you to teach or train anyone over the age of 16 and give you the PTLLS qualification, which is necessary for Government funded courses.

Eligibility
Currently you should be (or planning to be) teaching or training, mentoring or guiding, coaching or assisting in teaching, either one-to-one or with groups. You will need a minimum of level 3 qualifications in the subject you will be teaching. You will also need a good standard of English. Content
This programme will teach: There are four assessment tasks:
o the basic theory behind teaching
o the training cycle
o methods of assessment
o use of resources
o how to write a scheme of work
o how to write a lesson plan
ü writing about your role as a teacher, including
       boundaries
ü producing a scheme of work for a term
ü writing a class profile
ü delivering a micro-teach session of 20 minutes
Teaching Approach
The course uses the JGA FlexiLearn method: a mix of face-to-face tuition and e-learning. You will use Word and Google and access a specialist website. (If your IT skills need a boost, why not join one of our half-day courses? Just £25 plus VAT. Call Robert on 020 8426 2666 for details.)

Structure
There are two face-to-face sessions, both on Saturdays at JGA’s Learning Centre, Television House, 269 Field End Road, Eastcote, Middlesex HA4 9XA
Accreditation
This PTLLS course is accredited by the University of Westminster. You will gain 6 units at level 4, which can be used towards other courses such as The Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS).

Support
Throughout this PTLLS course you will be supported and guided by a fully qualified and experienced teacher.

Cost
The course fee is £348.50, plus VAT.

How to pay
You can pay for the course by cheque, made payable to JGA Limited and supported by a bank card, or by bank transfer. (Our sort code is 207353 and our account number is 20424390.) If you wish to pay in two instalments  the first instalment will be £230, to be received by 23rd February 2012. Your second payment of £198.20 to be made by 11th March 2012. (If you are paying in two installments.you will incur a £10 charge.) If you are paying in three instalments the payments are £200 by 23rd February 2012, the second of £138.20 must be paid by 11th March 2012 and your third and final payment of £100 must be made by 10th April 2012. (Please note that paying in three instalmentsthis will incur a £20 charge.) We understand there is a posibilityof funding via JCP through the Low Value Procurement funding stream. (Please speak to your Jobcentre advisor on this subject)
