What is it?
Skills for Jobs is a new service to help unemployed people prepare themselves for work by providing on-going careers advice and support and two days of vocational training.
Following the training, JGA will put job applications forward to employers in the local area, and will continue to provide advice and support once participants have found a job.
Who is it for?
Skills for Jobs is available free of charge to unemployed adults over the age of 19 years who are living in Slough, Staines and Weybridge.
How does it work?
Skills for Jobs offers you the opportunity to meet with a JGA Careers Adviser on a regular basis to discuss the kind of work you would like to apply for, and receive help with your CV and job applications.
The first one-to-one meetings are followed by 2 days of training to prepare you for work with employers in your area, including Thorpe Park and Heathrow airport.
You can choose to attend any one of the following workshops:- Working in a theme park
- Working in an airport
- 1-day pre-employment workshop followed by another day of training in a vocational subject of your choice, such as customer care or administration
After the workshops and the individual advice sessions, JGA will put forward your job applications, where appropriate, to help you get back into work. Once you have found a job, Skills for Jobs will continue to provide support and engage with your employer to discuss progress and further training.
How much does it cost?
Skills for Jobs is free because it is funded by the Learning and Skills Council.
